Repo (full name: R.E.P.O. - Retrieve, Extract and Profit Operation) – a new generation survival horror masterpiece that's attracting a lot of young people's attention.

What is Repo?

Repo (developed by Semiwork Studios) is an online co-op horror game supporting up to 6 players. In the game, you and your teammates will play as "asset recovery" agents. Your mission is to infiltrate abandoned areas, collect valuable artifacts and items, and bring them back to a safe extraction point to exchange for SURPLUS.

Key features that make Repo unique:

  • Physics-based grabbing mechanism: In Repo, you use the mouse to lift, hold, and carry items. This unique mechanism is quite similar to the GrabPack hand-control experience used to collect components in Project Playtime. If you accidentally drop an item while moving, it may break and lose all its value.

  • Proximity Voice Chat System: A voice chat system that uses real-time distance. When you move away from your teammates in the Repo, their voices will fade and disappear into the darkness. Your desperate scream when encountering monsters will also be the only locator signal for the entire team.

Game Control System in Repo

For smooth survival in Repo, familiarizing yourself with the controls is essential. The game's default control system is quite intuitive:

  • Movement: W A S D to move; hold Shift to sprint.
  • Physical Actions: Hold Left Mouse Button (LMB) to lift, hold, and drag artifacts. Move the mouse to adjust the carrying angle.
  • Throwing Items: Right-click (RMB) while holding an item to throw it forward.
  • Crouching: Press C or Ctrl to crouch, reducing footsteps and avoiding monster sight.
  • Turning Flashlight On/Off: Press F.
  • Using Walkie-Talkie / Communication: The voice chat system automatically activates based on distance. Simply speak directly into the microphone; no need to hold down any keys.
  • Opening Backpack / Checking Equipment: Press Tab or I.

How to Play Repo

The Repo gameplay loop revolves around 4 steps: Infiltration -> Gathering -> Survival -> Extraction.

Step 1: Preparation at the Service Station

Before starting a hunt in Repo, the team will gather at the Service Station. Here, you can use the SURPLUS points accumulated from previous levels to purchase essential equipment such as flashlights, flamethrowers, explosives, or upgrade your character's stamina and health bar.

Step 2: Physical Item Pickup Mechanism and Artifact Durability

When you find items (vases, paintings, electronics, etc.), remember to hold down the mouse button. The durability of items in Repo depends entirely on how you move. Don't jump too high or crash into walls if you don't want an item worth thousands of SURPLUS to become scrap metal.

Step 3: Dealing with Danger

The map in Repo is extremely dark and gloomy. You will face a system of bizarre monsters with unique hunting mechanisms:

  • Apex Predator: A giant duck that lurks in the shadows, emitting sounds to deceive players.
  • Cleanup Crew: A cleanup crew ready to send you "log out" if you go alone.

Survival Tip in Repo: When you hear strange noises or when your teammates suddenly lose their radio signal, crouch down, turn off your flashlight, and move very quietly.

Step 4: Safe Retreat and Redeem Rewards

When your backpack is full or when the situation becomes too critical due to being surrounded by monsters, immediately find your way back to Extraction Points. Only when you bring the artifact back here and successfully activate the control panel will the SURPLUS points be officially added to the team's account. If you die before you can escape, you will lose all the assets you worked so hard to acquire.

FAQs

Why did I successfully collect an artifact at the Extraction point but didn't receive SURPLUS?

There are two main reasons:

  • The item has been bumped or dropped too many times along the way, causing its durability to drop to 0%, meaning it's broken and no longer worth exchanging.
  • You haven't pressed the "Confirm Item Submission" button on the Extraction Station control panel. Please ensure the system has scanned your item.

Can I play Repo solo?

Yes. The game has a Single-player mode. However, the difficulty doesn't automatically decrease with the number of players. Playing alone will put a lot of pressure on you as you have to carry heavy items and deal with monsters from multiple directions. It's best to invite at least 2-3 people for the best experience.

Is there a way to increase storage capacity or carry more items in the Repo?

There are no larger backpacks, but you can upgrade your stamina. In the Repo, the weight of artifacts is inversely proportional to your running speed. To optimize carrying heavy items, you need to accumulate SURPLUS and purchase Stamina Upgrades at the Service Station before entering a battle. Also, divide the tasks: those with high stamina should specialize in carrying heavy items, while those carrying weapons should follow behind to provide protection.
